Hurricane Tracking Software
Anyone have any recomendations for good Hurricane Tracking Software? I used Eye of the Storm last year and really wasn't impressed at all with it.

Ideal Features:

Auto Updates
Notification of new statments
Other data such as Buoy reports (bouy alarms would be fabulous)
Not over $100

Any thoughts?

I tried TrackingTheEye.NET - It was pretty cool. They make you pay a fee each year to use it though which is kind of a bummer. $34.95 the first year, $19.95 each year after.

Trial version should be full function. Let me email Tom Berg and Bryan and see what the deal is with those features.

Hi kf6bka,

Global Tracks is fully functional as a trial.
If you are not able to display satellite or radar, then the images are not selected to download.

Follow these steps.

1. Open the downloader. Link from the "Data" toolbar button, or running in your system tray.
2. Click the check for updates button.
3. Once you get the server items list, make sure that the radar, or satellite image you want is checked.
4. Download the updates...

You can also right click on the list items from the server and enter a purge #. Basically this will delete all old files up to the number you select.

Let me know if you have any questions.
Bryan

Also,
Global Tracks 2007 features will be improved recon/vortex/plan of the day displays, and Grib (GFS 1 degree) wind fields for the world.

A few other improvments are in the works also..

Ok Bryan I got it. Thank you so much and I want to complement you on a great piece of software. I'm purchasing it on saturday for this season. The only one better I've seen is Hurrtrack but thats about $990 more than yours and except for email notification yours meets all my needs as a ham radio net controller. One question.. Is there an audio prompt to tell u when the new advisories are out and would it be possible to auto print them? When I run the watch net I have to read the lastest advisories and be nice to have that print when they come in.... Just a thought

Again thanks for all the help
