You see... God still wants the Saints to go to the Super Bowl, so hell is about to freeze over!

Sorry, I know this is a more serious thread, just dont believe that everything has to/should be serious all the time.

From NWS Jackson afternoon discussion:

THE GENERAL PATTERN STILL FAVORS MUCH COLDER WEATHER IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS...BUT THE DETAILS ARE FLEETING WITH EACH MODEL RUN OFFERING UP A WIDE ARRAY OF POSSIBILITIES. IT IS LIKELY THAT THE FORECAST AREA WILL REMAIN NEAR THE SRN EDGE OF THE DEEPER COLD AIRMASS FOR THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE...MEANING THAT SNEAKY SRN STREAM PERTURBATIONS WILL MAKE FOR CHALLENGING PRECIP TYPE FORECASTS IN THE NEXT ONE TO TWO WEEKS. IT IS ALSO INTERESTING THAT MODELS KEEP SURFACE PRESSURES LOWER (< 1030MB) THAN TYPICALLY SEEN WITH SUCH A PATTERN...SUGGESTING COLD AIR WILL BE MORE DEPENDENT ON THE POLAR VORTEX LOCATION THAN IS NORMAL. AM NOT CONFIDENT THAT THE "REALLY" COLD TEMPERATURES WILL EVER AFFECT THE FORECAST AREA AS INDICATIONS ARE THAT THE VORTEX AND THERMAL TROUGH WILL NOT SURGE SOUTH...BUT IT SURE WOULDN`T BE A STRETCH TO SAY THAT THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES OF THE SEASON ARE ON THE WAY.

AFTER LOOKING AT 12Z GUIDANCE...THE LONG RANGE FORECAST IS IN FAIRLY GOOD SHAPE. ONLY SIGNIFICANT CHANGES WERE TO RAISE HIGH TEMPS ON MONDAY A FEW DEGREES...STILL ABOUT 4 TO 5 DEG BELOW MEX MOS AND JUST A BIT WARMER THAN THE COLDER NAM GUIDANCE. CERTAINLY WOULD NOT RULE OUT WINTRY PRECIP BEYOND DAY 3...BUT GIVEN LOW PRECIP PROBS AND INCONSISTENT MODEL OUTPUT...HAVE REMOVED FLURRIES FROM THE DAY 7 PERIOD FORECAST.
