Event for 1/12/07 - 1/18/07
strong likelyhood of MAJOR ICE storm over central & southern
plains region by this upcoming weekend, with possible 2nd storm system showing up on gfs by the coming monday to tues (15th and 16th) first system will enter the plains by thursday into friday of this week setting up possible ice storm event across the central plains region by the weekend with several inches of ice poss esp across parts of ks/ok and nc and ne tx... then there appears attm to be a break sometime mon with another storm sys on the way by late monday time frame into tues bringing the chance of poss heavy snow from the latest thinking here appears attm to be a very good chance of heavy snow across the southern plains regions of ok and tx from late monday the 15th through that thursday jan 18th and again after that into the following weekend possible 3rd storm system by saturday the 20th. so non the less very active winter type storm pattern for the central & sc plains region starting later this week... i do at the moment think this will be a big one and will halt travel across this region for possibly several days so stay tuned... i will have more updates later tonight and on monday... Reason why I am asking, my 1st winter up here in Virginia was last winter and we had some pretty decent snows. We even had a good dusting for Thanksgiving, but this year we got teased with just a quick 5 minute flurry. Its amazing, I am born and raised around N'Awlins but I likes the snow and I want to see more of it. BTW, I live in Leesburg, VA, about an hour to the west of DC, give or take a few minutes. I miss the snow!
I like it I love it I WANT SOME MORE OF IT!!!! [SIZE="4"][COLOR="RoyalBlue"]I RIDES DA SHERT BUS WIT HCW'S CASS & ZIGGY CAWZ WEEZ SPESHUL!!! honestly havent looked over there but i will post an outlook on there
soon...this attm is top order of business we are looking at poss highs on sunday in okc of 10-15! highs! dfw metroplex maybe even just 20ish for the high... iam thinking as of tonight this is looking more and more like a MAJOR MAJOR ICE STORM... for ks/ok and nc/ne tx for this upcoming weekend... some facts even leading me to think the front may pass earlyer then thought bringing the much colder air in even sooner.. but attm iam gonna stay with current trend of it clearing oklahoma late fri night and moving through the dfw metroplex by midday sat... with widespread frz rain region wide by sat night... inches of ice is poss... anyone who knows anyone from wichita to okc to dallas and areas e or w needs to advise them of this poss dangerous situation as it could serriously effect travel, business and other goings on for days in the heartland region of ok/ks and tx... more updates later.. |

Event for 1/12/07 - 1/18/07
as seen on my graphic highs for sun expected only in the teens
for the most part across most of ks/ok with temps near 20 in the nc tx area.. precip amounts and types still way to early to call but iam still very much expecting a ice storm across this region with inches of ice... still some questions in the forecast but expect this to come true when this weekend gets here... so if your within this region stock up and be prepared for several days of ice and then first of the next week heavy snow possible.... more updates tomorrow.. to your question.. for your area just real quick from what i've seen
nothing that looks real great, chance of snow showers mon eve into early tues morning chances at only about 30% no accums way it looks maybe a dusting... looking down the road a bit towards the 24th, 25th iam seeing a better chance of snow for your region but that far out its to hard to say if it will be alot or how much accums but its def there towards the end of the month... |

iam thinking for sure poss ice storm for ok/southern ks and nc tx
for late fri through sunday.. again main concern for the forecast is time that the front arrives within the region becouse if temps fall quick enough i have no doubt this could be a major major ice storm!! a quick look at i thought was looking good for monday the 15th - thursday the 18th latest runs have taken that out of the forecast but next week around jan 22-23rd could see another strong winter storm enter the central/southern plains also towards end of the month need to watch the eastern us for poss winter storm... alot of questions still remain but my main concern at this point is the very very cold that will move into the plains and the poss precip along with it with the chance of ice... thats it for tonight but i will have more updates tomorrow on this possible ice storm that will effect kansas, oklahoma and north central texas... same thoughts as rolltide this morning, precip starts early fri morning
in northwestern oklahoma and spreads to the south and east through out the weekend, accumulating ice and or snow is likely from ks to central tx.. graphic from lastnight on sun high's will stand for now but will most likely need some tweaking through out the week, but non the less expect major cold air this weekend into early next week!! still also think we are looking at more of a ice storm then snow storm but again we are still days out and things can change so as always stay tuned! Updates later today Todd Rasmuson FAST Chief Forecaster |
