Then wouldn't the sun devouring the earth accomplish that?

What religion are you, out of curiosity?

The bible does say that God will destroy the Earth AND the heavens with fire. I'm wondering, how extreme does a fire have to be to destroy the sun and stars?

Quote:Unless it is slipping away from me I don't recall a description of the end of the world except for some imagery used by a few of the prophets, and as we can see by this entire thread that is subject to interpretation.

The thing about the Bible is, we can't just interpret as we like. It interprets itself, it just takes study to understand it.

You know how when you hear a quote from somebody, and everyone thinks it means different things? Well, the only way to find out what that REALLY meant is to go ask the person who said it to begin with. The same thing applies here. You have to study to understand. Some of the teachings are difficult, I agree. But the answers are there.

I'm not trying to push my views on anybody, but I am trying to show why I believe the way I do. I believe that the Bible is our only authority, as it states. Therefore, I use the Bible to explain the Bible.

So what if God does intend to destroy the earth by allowing the sun to become a red giant?
the Bible is very clear about the end times, the tribulation to follow and so forth

Oh? And what writings or teachings does whatever religion you have follow? Sounds like you are trying to have it both ways.

what tribulation? it speaks of a tribulation that would happen to Jewish Christians under Nero, as Jerusalem was about to fall...but not about any tribulation like many imagine, not like Hal Lindsey talks about.

Yes, a 7 year tribulation period after the rapture.

Where in the bible does it teach that? I just see that it was talking to the Jews back then.
