Looks like a potential for a "significant event" according to the PWO issued today, text for 1/30 suggests a possible upgrade to Moderate presumably for much of Alabama and some of Georgia.

Thoughts, reports???

Well we had some pretty good winds associated with the leading edge of the front. I had 45+mph winds and lost electricity. Nothing like getting ready for work by candle light.

Statement as of 11:11 am EST on January 30, 2013Tornado Warning

Quote:... A Tornado Warning remains in effect until 1145 am EST for eastern
Gordon... east central Floyd... extreme northwestern Cherokee...
northern Bartow and western Pickens counties...

At 1105 am EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a possible tornado. This tornado was located 8 miles west of
Kingston... moving northeast at 60 mph. It should pass over Interstate
75 near Adairsville around 1125 am EST.

Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to
Adairsville... Folsom... Pine Log... Sonoraville... Funkhouser...
Redbud... Fairmount... Ranger... Oakman... Talmadge... Hinton and Blaine.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not use Highway overpasses for shelter. Overpasses do not provide
protection from tornadic winds. Vehicles stopped under bridges block
traffic and prevent people from getting out of the storms path and to
shelter. If you cannot drive away from the tornado... get out of your
vehicle and lie flat in a ditch as a last resort.

If you see wind damage... hail or flooding... wait until the storm has
passed... and then call the National Weather Service toll free at 1 8
6 6 7 6 3 4 4 6 6. You can also tweet your report using hashtag gawx.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 PM EST Wednesday
afternoon for northern Georgia.
