An area of low pressure is expected to develop over the state early Thursday and shift east through the afternoon hours. Cold air will filter into the area on the back side of this low and interact with residual moisture. This will allow for a changeover of rain to snow across the northern tier generally north the interstate 20 corridor. The best chances for accumulating snowfall will be north of a Rome to Gainesville line with highest accumulations over the northeast Georgia mountains. For the Atlanta metro and points south...expecting mainly rain with snow mixing in at times and little to no accumulations expected.
