severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado 5 miles south of
Mobile... or near i10 and i65... moving northeast at 45 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
i65 and US 45... i65 and i165... i10 and i65...
Mobile... Creola... Chickasaw...
Stockton... Spanish Fort... i65 and al 59...

This includes Interstate 10 between mile markers 17 and 37.

This includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 1 and 42.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The safest place to be during a tornado is in a basement. Get under a
workbench or other piece of sturdy furniture. If no basement is
available... seek shelter on the lowest floor of the building in an
interior hallway or room such as a closet. Use blankets or pillows to
cover your body and always stay away from windows.

If in manufactured homes or vehicles... evacuate them and get inside a
substantial shelter. If no shelter is available... lie flat in the
nearest ditch or other low spot and cover your head with your hands.

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 500 PM CST Thursday afternoon
for southwestern Alabama and northwest Florida.

I had headed north about 20 mins before that warning was issued . I was watching tiny waterspouts on the island

MOB: Gilbertown [Choctaw Co, AL] public reports TSTM WND DMG at 09:43 AM CST -- public reports windows out and tree down on paragon rd. in gilbertown. public also reports damage to a shed behind mm hardware in gilbertown.

WELL IT TOOK AWHILE, BUT WHEN YOU HAVE 12 TORNADO REPORTS AND 4 SVR T-STORM REPORTS, IT TAKES TIME

January 25 Severe Weather Outbreak
FROM NWS LAKE CHARLES, LA

Quote:On the morning of January 25, 2012, a slow moving cold front pushed through Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana. Ahead of this front, a strong squall line developed and by midday began producing embedded tornados as it pushed across the area. A Tornado Watch was issued by the Storm Prediction Center at 7:55 AM for the entire area through 3:00 PM on the afternoon of the 25th. The watch was eventually reissued through 9:00 PM.

A total of 12 tornados were confirmed over the course of the afternoon and evening. Additionally, another 4 reports of severe thunderstorm damage as well as 7 reports of strong marine winds were reported over the course of the event.

A total of 32 warnings were issued during the event. These warnings consisted of 9 Tornado warnings, 13 Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and 10 Special Marine Warnings.
