I guess it was an accident that you left out the rest:

Referendums are only a small part, but an important part, and I'm sure you are the only one that made the jump to claim I meant ALL laws should be made that way.

I can't help but think back to that evening the Causeway police gave you that name. Remember the poor spanish guy with the broken english who just wanted to hitch a ride with you across the bridge. I think he tried to say "How much would you charge me to get a ride with you in this convertible across the bridge - I'd like to watch the sun go down and feel the wind blowing in my hair." Lost in translation I guess, but it seems like your interpretaion of "How much for the Wind to go down blowing my head" would have been caught at some point. I don't know, maybe $300.00 is the going rate for a lift in Honduras. Remember the big crane they had to bring on the bridge to get the car out? Was the guy really still in the drivers seat with a huge grin on his face when they fished it out?

You want me to stop?

And yes, if you must know, I bet Belle $50 that I could get you to say "No, don't stop!"

Soo...how SHOULD the people make the laws then? By elections and referendums...please, and I ask you to do this out of my own ignorance, explain how to do this.

Oh, I didn't know I had to explain something that seemed obvious...yes, it's elected officials who WORK FOR THE PEOPLE that make the laws, and should get VOTED OUT BY THE PEOPLE when they screw up and make assinine laws like the one that got the smoking trucker fired, Too many of them think that the people work for them.

No, the way it was envisioned by our founding fathers. That's NOT how things are running now. Corruption, lifetime poltiticians that don't answer to their constituents, but the special interests that fund them, more and more government control of things...that's how it is now.
