One of my career fields in the USAF was "flying" the Defense Support Program-DSP Satellite Constellation. We were very aware of what the Sun was doing. When there was an event, we would usually encounter the Sun's effects on the spacecraft, which was 22,000 miles from Earth, up to 2 or 3 days after the event. The same holds true for us on Earth. This spiked my interest further; the role Space Wx plays in our lives, because we're so dependant on spacecraft today. SpaceWx also affects our climates.

Maybe use this thread to spark some conversation about conditions, aurora, events, etc.

Some nice sites offer detailed SpaceWx bulletins, obs, etc.

These real-time indices are especially useful for geomag storms and radio blackouts.

My SpaceWx webpage goes a little more in depth. It is a work in-progress.

Can a moderator maybe make this a Weather sub-thread?

No way. I provide/incorporate links from govt sites and list credits/links.

If that's a problem here, I'll remove the post.
