West Georgia weather thread
Well, Georgia has been the pits for me on the 11th of December, I went into my basement and had to get the shopvac out, and suck up all the water./moon

So I wasted a entire Thursday, cleaning a basement, now the weather has turned cold, no need to worry about snow that is only for north Georgia.

Had a twister hit 2 counties over from me, but I was trying to suck water, so I had no time to chase, sure wish I had some kids that I could tell to clean the mess, but that will never happen. Oh well the basement is clean now, and I am happy and the wife even more happy.
So I hope the rain didn't mess you up, or did it?

We got some here where I live north of Tampa, but not near enough and if we don't get some more by spring it could be a bad fire season in Florida.

We had 2.40 inches of rain from Wednesday and Thursday's storm, but no problems really. I do now know why there is only sand out front and not mulch. That whole area was a pond throughout the storm...

Well Roll, whatever they've had in western Georgia has sure moved to NE Georgia. I've emptied my 6" rain gauge twice since yesterday afternoon. My total approx 15"-16" in the last four days.....And it's raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock outside right now!

I've seen the news and wow some places up that over 20 inches of rain in 3 days. That's incredible. The bad thing is flooding in people's homes.

AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION...UPDATED FOR AVIATION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PEACHTREE CITY GA
520 AM EDT TUE SEP 22 2009

.SHORT TERM /TODAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
STRONG SE LOW LEVEL FLOW HAS FINALLY WEAKENED AND THAT WILL END THE
POTENTIAL FOR WIDESPREAD HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS. HOWEVER...STILL
EXCELLENT MOISTURE ACROSS THE AREA WITH POTENTIAL FOR WEAK SHORT
WAVES TO CAUSE SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS...GIVING POTENTIAL FOR
LOCALIZED HEAVY RAINFALL AMOUNTS. TODAYS CONVECTIVE ACTIVITY SHOULD
WEAKEN QUICKLY TONIGHT WITH THE LOSS OF DAY TIME HEATING.

SCATTERED SHOWERS AND STORMS EXPECTED WEDNESDAY HELPED BY THE
APPROACH OF A WEAKENING EASTERLY WAVE.

HIGH TEMPERATURES SLIGHTLY ABOVE NORMAL TODAY AND WEDNESDAY. LOW
TEMPERATURES RUNNING 5-7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL THE NEXT 2 NIGHTS.

OVERALL CONFIDENCE IS MODERATE.

.LONG TERM /THURSDAY THROUGH MONDAY/...
HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT CONTINUES ON THURSDAY AND FRIDAY KEEPING
CONVECTION MORE DIURNALLY DRIVEN EVEN WITH A WEAK FRONT APPROACHING
FRIDAY. NEXT SYSTEM BEGINS TO AFFECT AREA SATURDAY WITH BETTER
MOISTURE AND THE APPROACH OF A MORE SIGNIFICANT COLD FRONT THAT
MOVES ACROSS THE AREA ON SUNDAY AND FINALLY DRIES THINGS OUT FOR
MONDAY. ALL IN ALL...TEMPERATURES NEAR TO ABOVE NORMAL UNTIL THE
COLD FRONT PASSES SUNDAY INTO MONDAY.

.AVIATION...
IFR CLOUDS IN AND OUT EARLY THIS MORNING...WITH MOST TAF SITES NOW
REPORTING BASES IN THE MVFR TO LOW VFR RANGE. HOWEVER...HAVE NOT
GIVEN UP COMPLETELY ON IFR CONDITIONS BECOMING MORE WIDESPREAD
BEFORE SUNRISE...AND THINK WE WILL SEE AT LEAST BKN CLOUDS IN THE
5 HUNDRED TO 1 THSD FT RANGE MOST PLACES BETWEEN NOW AND
MID-MORNING. EXPECT ANY IFR CIGS THAT DO DEVELOP TO LIFT BACK INTO
THE MVFR/LOW VFR RANGE MID TO LATE MORNING. LIKEWISE...SO FAR FOG
HAS NOT BEEN AN ISSUE...BUT WITH LITTLE TEMP/DEW POINT SPREAD...MVFR
VSBYS NOT OUT OF THE QUESTION THIS MORNING. WILL CONTINUE TO
INDICATE JUST VCSH FOR THIS MORNING...WITH VCTS OR CB MOST PLACES
AFTER 18Z. EAST TO SOUTHEAST WINDS (5 TO 10 KTS) STILL LOOK GOOD FOR
MUCH OF THE PERIOD.

49
&&

.HYDROLOGY...
FLOOD WATCH WILL CONTINUE UNTIL 800 PM THIS EVENING. NOT EXPECTING
WIDESPREAD HEAVY AMOUNTS TODAY WITH MOST AREAS GETTING 1/2 INCH OR
LESS. HOWEVER...ANY LOCAL HEAVY AMOUNTS COULD CAUSE ADDITIONAL
PROBLEMS ON ALREADY SATURATED GROUND.
