Invest 92L
Invest 92L is located at about 16N/43W with vorticity maps and visible satellite loops suggesting only a mid-level circulation. 92L is currently experiencing in excess of 20 knots of northeasterly shear. This is pretty evident on visible satellite images as you can see the upper-level cloud tops racing off to the northeast. Shear tendency maps suggest that shear will decrease by 5-10 knots ahead of 92L over the next 24-48 hours, and the GFS also projects a decrease in shear. 92L should continue to move to the NWN for the next 36-48 hours and, based on steering currents, should then begin moving towards the NW. All indications are that the ridge will break down, and 92L should recurve out to sea. The GFS also agrees with this solution.

tropical weather outlook
nws tpc/national hurricane center miami fl
200 am edt sun sep 14 2008

for the north atlantic...caribbean sea and the gulf of mexico...

The national hurricane center is issuing advisories on tropical
depression ike...located inland over western arkansas.

1. A tropical wave located about 1000 miles east of the leeward islands
is producing very disorganized shower activity as it moves
west-northwestward at about 10 mph. Significant development of
this system during the next couple of days appears unlikely due to
strong upper-level winds.

Elsewhere...tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the
next 48 hours.
