How to fix the Charter blocking problem...
Here's a fix to the problem.. without calling charter.. Wink

For Vista users..

1. start - all programs - accessories - right click on wordpad - "run as administrator"

2. file - open - go through these folders-

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

"hosts" is the file that you want to open, if you try to browse to this location and don't see the file, switch the filter to *all files*, instead of *.rtf, the filter is in the drop down menu in the file open box.

3. Once open.. insert this exact line at the end of the file.. after all of the other text/numbers..

216.32.66.62 hardcoreweather.com http://www.hardcoreweather.com

This line should be inserted directly under the last line in the document.. which should have something like.. "127.0.0.1".

4. Save the file, and exit. You should be good to go..

For XP Users

You will follow the same instructions as above.. except you won't run Wordpad as an administrator.. there is no such thing on XP. Simply run Wordpad normally, and start from here..

1. file - open - go through these folders-

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

"hosts" is the file that you want to open, if you try to browse to this location and don't see the file, switch the filter to *all files*, instead of *.rtf, the filter is in the drop down menu in the file open box.

2. Once open.. insert this exact line at the end of the file.. after all of the other text/numbers..

216.32.66.62 hardcoreweather.com http://www.hardcoreweather.com

This line should be inserted directly under the last line in the document.. which should have something like.. "127.0.0.1".

3. Save the file, and exit. You should be good to go..

Hope this helps... I'm up and running fine, now.. on Charter in Houma, LA.

Travis

This is just one more thing on a long and growing list of reasons to hate Charter. :offrant:
