SOI signal going positive!
That means 2 to 3 weeks from now, watch out for
1.another deep south freeze
2.persistent snow in the NE
3. record low temperatures....
The next storm that comes will either be a blizzard or a tidal wave...the northern plains will probably experince the worst blizzard since 1956. And then it gets stuck off the east coast...

I don't like the GFS at all this winter, at least so far. It has underestimated almost every cold shot thus far, oblivious to mesoscale snow, and keeps on jumping on the SOI signal. The ETA I'm not fond of either, to flaky and is rarely sure of itself. That's why I like the NOGAPs, and UKMET- they aren't afraid to go out on a limb and I like that in a model...it's almost like the GFS said you take one exterme and the UKMET took the other. Whatever may be the case, it will not be in the upper 50's on New Years Day, with constant canadian ridging keeping the flow from the north, and not to metion source region of this air- please Weather Channel don't push on 60's on the Delmarva peninsula! So there's my "rant", and BTW got 5 inches of snow with blizzard like conditions in the middle of the night, and still snowing!
