World War III
we had to veto the sorry UN trying to condemn Israel as usual...this will hurt getting anything done against North Korea and Iran too
US vetoes UN resolution urging end to Israeli attacks in Gaza Jul 13 3:50 PM US/Eastern The United States vetoed a UN draft resolution that would have called for an end to Israeli attacks and "disproportionate use of force" in the Gaza Strip as well as for the release of a kidnapped Israeli soldier. The Security Council resolution received 10 votes, one against from the United States with four abstentions, French Ambassador Jean-Marc de la Sabliere, the council president for July, announced. Explaining his negative vote, US Ambassador John Bolton described the text as "unbalanced" and was "not only untimely but also outmoded" because of the attacks against Israel by Lebanese Hezbollah militants and UN chief Kofi Annan's decision to send a crisis team to the region. He said adoption of the resolution would have exacerbated tensions in the region and would have undermined "our vision of two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, living side by side in peace and security." The United States, Israel's staunchest ally, last used its veto in the Security Council in October 2004, to block a similar draft demanding that Israel end all military operations in northern Gaza and withdraw from the area. |

For those worried about Israel being able to handle Gaza, Lebanon, probably Syria at the same time - most every war Israel has fought for survival involved a simultaneous attack by most of her Arab/Muslim neighbors, and Israel won! See how silly it is to worry? |

Why can't the world leaders, United States, Canada, Britain, Japan, Germany, Russia, etc etc etc, step up and say "Israel, you ****ed up." What they did was uncalled for, and to be honest, it's really scary. I don't buy the whole Syria and Iran are helping Hezbollah story. I think it was a solo job, and that could be an excuse to impose sanctions.
Either way, I think Israel is in the wrong, period, and the world has to tell them to stop. |

Germany seems to think the kidnapping of soldiers is what started the whole mess, thus the kidnappings were the cause of the effect we are seeing now - namely the Jews kicking some Arab but*. Any country has to right to protect their soldiers and civilians from unwarranted attack. |

Read up on the Israeli war of independence, the 6-day war, and the 1973 war. All the Arabs united against Israel in these wars, and Israel won all three. |
