Possible water spouts, huh? Well, I take your water spouts and call for funnel clouds because we just saw one pass over.

Central Florida - The Bug - 07-24-2005 03:56 PM

We are getting it right now. Pretty hard.

When you are looking for a funnel cloud or waterspout, there must exist rotation both in the funnel itself, and in the cloud basin it is stemming from. Many people mistakenly call little juts from ominous looking clouds ‘funnels’. Florida probably gets thousands of waterspouts a year, so you have a real good chance of seeing at least a few each summer. Especially in the Keys. Did you take any pictures?

Thanks Jeff the met for that amazing fact about tornaders, never knew that!

Look, keith… about every day I will be filming a thunderstorm, and someone will point out a "tornado off yonder”. Of course, you could live in LI your whole life and never see one.

My weather could beat your weather up anyday...

Central Florida - Jeffery McElroy - 07-24-2005 06:17 PM

My weather could take yo’ weather and massacre it and all of its family. Ok… what is the lowest barometric pressure ever recorded in long island (in millibars please)?

Please, I believe we had a nor-easter this year that brought down the pressure into the 970's! I don't feel like doing a google search right now, so phil can probably answer this question much better then I. "massacre my family", they're already massacred, there's not much more you can do!

Central Florida - Jeffery McElroy - 07-24-2005 06:27 PM

sorry if that hit a sore spot, man... not your family (I was talking figurativly about the "weathers family").

Ok... South Florida, 1935: 892mb. Beat that.
