I want a weather station...
Hi folks.. I want to get a rudimentary weather station; something where I can monitor things like temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, rainfall amounts, etc; something to use to teach my daughter the basics of weather... she's addicted to Wunderground's Wundermap product, but I wanted to be able to show her weather right in our hard in a tangible, measurable fashion. I've seen countless instruments of this nature online, but have no idea what ones are good, what ones suck, what ones are easy to use, etc.

Can you provide me any guidance? I'd like to keep the cost under $300 if at all possible, but quality and ease of use trump that, if it's that good a product.

Thanks in advance!/licklips

Cheers,

I want a weather station...
I have a Davis Vantage Pro 2 and it is a great piece of equipment, the Vue came out tight after I bought mine - I like that the Vue is a single component outside, the Vantage Pro 2 has 2 components. On both the outside component(s) are solar and communicate wirelessly to the indoor unit. I had a cheaper model (around $200) and it died within 18 months. I got the Davis right after Ike, and going strong.

This looks like what I'm looking for. However, I want to be able to transmit the data via Wi-Fi...I want the weather station at my beach house and able to see what's going on at my land home! We have WI-FI at the beach (Bolivar Peninsula). Suggestions? Thanks!!

RE: I want a weather station...
The Davis Vue stations are all set up to add a module that will allow it to get on line. The module also comes with software to set up a simple web page or you could sign it up with one of the online wx networks (ie=WxUnderground, WxBug...)

Fast-forward to 2016... I'm in the market. Any suggestions? They are pretty much a dime a dozen on Amazon now.
