Baby steps. Natural gas is clean, local and abundant and we've got the infrastructure to drill for it.

Storm said he has done wind on land, in the air, and in the water! He's highly recommended it to me, and he said it was cheap and easy!

True, but unless we start building proper infrastructure for stuff like Hydrogen and wider spread electric (hybrids are NOT enough), we need to start with proper funding now. The money that would be used to drill for oil could take this a long way.

All that takes is proper incentives by Washington to spur private investment. A combination of more drilling, incentives for new energy development (Wind, Hydrogen cells, Nuclear etc) will instantly drop the price of oil, because of both lack of demad and panic in OPEC that their monopolies on energy supplies would be facing an uncertain future. In the past, once OPEC's prices dropped, America dropped their pursuit of alternate fuels, because we were placated with cheap gas. We can't make that mistake this time. As an aside, though, energy has certainly hurt our economy, but, besides weakening the dollar, it really has nothing to do with the current housing/credit crunch right now.

If something happened to the oil supply, our financial crisis would be worse than what we're experiencing right now.
Excellent thoughts and comments, Guys. The harnessing of solar and wind power, which will NEVER go away (unless the Earth does) seem to be the most logical to pursue. This is one area that I would not object our tax dollars being pumped into, as it is truly needed.
Does anybody else find it interesting that despite being on completely different sides of the political fence, we agree on a lot of this, AND YET nothing is being done in congress besides "drill more"?
That's it!! Let's pack up and go! The HCW bi-partisan March on Congress!!
Woo-hoo!/sweet1
Seriously....America has had a huge wake-up call over the past few months, with the oil prices and now the wall street meltdown. It was what was needed, unfortunately, to make us DEMAND that our elected officials listen to us and keep their promises. We will be ok, it will take time, but we will survive. We always do.
drill now, [email protected]#k the wind and the sun, the wind chafes my skin and the sun causes cancer, i need me some oil!
